Today, we toast to this TWC issue on Fandom & Performance and Game Love!
TWC has just published an issue on Fandom & Performance, guest edited by Paul Booth and Lucy Bennett. The issue features publications on Doctor Who weddings, slash fiction, cosplay, fan tattoos and football fans. My contribution is a piece on cosplay music videos.
Also, Game Love! This is an excellent edited collection by Esther MacCallum-Stewart and Jessica Enevold with really powerful essays on love as a game mechanic or reward, romance and sexuality in play, and the strong emotions that games evoke with their audiences. For the record, my favorite game characters include Sorceress Edea, Lara Croft and the whole cast of Dragon Age: Inquisition and Ace Attorney because damn, these games.
